►Batteries

Recycle your Rechargeables. Rechargeable batteries come in many shapes and sizes, and are commonly used in cordless rechargeable appliances such as camcorders, phones and power tools. They are either sealed lead (Pb) or Nickel-cadmium (Ni-Cd).

Bring spent rechargeable batteries to one of the local stores listed here.

Commonly used in flashlights, toys, portable music boxes and cameras. These are usually alkaline or zinc carbon. Check labels before you purchase to make sure you are buying "no added mercury" or "low mercury" batteries. When batteries are spent, these may be placed directly in the trash.

Auto and marine lead acid batteries must be recycled. Return these batteries to auto parts stores or to the CMCMUA Landfill or Transfer Station.
