Fluorescent Light Bulbs

Fluorescent Bulb Recycling

The CMCMUA does not accept fluorescent bulbs for disposal.  All fluorescent bulbs contain mercury and therefore should be recycled rather than landfilled.  See EPA guidelines.

Local drop-off locations for Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs)

Several area retailers accept CFLs for recycling; no purchase necessary.  Look for collection bins at store entrance and ask for fluorsecent bulb recycling at the service desk.  Look for bulb recycling programs at home improvement stores and at buisnesses that sell light fixtures and light bulbs.

Residents may bring spent fluorescent bulbs to the Authority's spring or fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.

Fluorescent Bulb Recycling for businesses and other large generators

Businesses, institutions or residents generating large amounts of fluorescent bulbs should contact bulb recyclers directly for mail back or pickup service.
