November 15th, 2017 marks the 20th annual celebration of America Recycles Day.

America Recycles Day is a national initiative of Keep America Beautiful, dedicated to raising awareness, advancing recycling in the U.S., and encouraging Americans to recycle and buy recycled products.  Since its inception in 1997, the campaign has evolved from a few local grassroots organizations to many nationwide community organizations. Every year, millions more people become better educated about the importance of recycling in their homes and in the workplace.

Through America Recycles Day, The National Recycling Coalition, a non-profit advocacy group, supports local communities and raises awareness by educating citizens about the benefits of recycling.

People wishing to do more can select a pledge on the America Recycles Day website:

  • Learn – I will find out what materials are collected for recycling in my community.

  • Act – Within the next month, I will reduce the amount of waste I produce, I will recycle more, and I will buy products made with recycled content.

  • Share – In the next month, I will encourage one family member or one friend to take the #BeRecycled pledge.  Use social media to encourage others to Keep America Beautiful.
