Update #19 - Week 1/13/20 through 1/17/20
As of the end of the day Friday (1/10/20), the Contractor's South crew will have installed new PVC pipe, backfilled, and temporary paved to a point, going Northward, about 200' South of 22nd St. The contractor's North crew will have completed the same work, going southward, to the intersection of 18th Street and Bay Avenue.
For the weekend (1/11/20 – 1/12/20), Bay Avenue will be open to two lanes of traffic with lane shifts around stored materials and equipment.
On Monday (1/13/20) Bay will be closed from 24th to 14th streets.
Middle School Activity:
Starting on Monday, 1/13/20, work will proceed directly in front of the Middle School. The following describes the traffic patterns to be observed starting on that date:
Bus Traffic: Buses will approach the school going southward on Haven Avenue (from 17th Street) and will drop off and pick up children at the intersection of 18th Street and Haven Avenue. The buses will exit the drop off location going southward on Haven Avenue.
Parent's Cars: The car drop off and pick up will remain unchanged. That is, on Haven Avenue at the school's outdoor basketball courts.
Crosswalks: The paths of the crosswalks will not change, except that the contractor will shift the location of the crosswalk at 18th Street and Bay Avenue to ensure that the children are a safe distance from construction activities. The relocated crosswalk will be marked as such. Crossing guards will be positioned where they normally are. Two crossing guards along with a police officer will be stationed at the intersection of Haven Avenue and 18th Street. A crossing guard and a police officer will also be stations at the intersections of 20th & Bay and 18th & Bay. All other intersections shall be manned as they normally are.
It is expected that this traffic pattern will be in place for two to three weeks. Updates will be provided as the situation changes
